What people across the globe think of Donald Trump - CNN

CNN asked people across the globe what they think of the Republican candidate. Here are three things we learned.

There's a lot of fear

Just how would the world react to a Trump White House? Most people we asked say they're scared. "I'm actually very, very worried," a Hong Kong woman told CNN.
Some fear a breakdown in relations between the United States and other countries, while others are concerned he'll encourage cultural intolerance. The "melting pot we know America as is going to change a lot" a young Cairo student said. Some people are more pessimistic. Standing in front of Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, a woman concluded that "Americans could go back in time with this president."
A few believed that a Trump presidency would lead to World War III.
"That's it, that's the end of America," a Jakarta woman said.

Will the odds go up or down?
CNN talked to dozens of everyday people in a range of places: London, Berlin, Moscow, Cairo, Jerusalem, Jakarta and Hong Kong. Not many were Trump fans. But we did find a few -- and they were in just two places.
"He's not quiet, and this is what we need. Someone who will do something," an Israeli man told us from the country's capital. "I welcome the idea" another Jerusalem citizen said.
More than 3,000 miles away, we found supporters on the frigid streets of Russia's capital.
"Donald Trump is more pragmatic because he's a businessman" a Moscow man told CNN, adding that he thinks U.S.-Russia relations would get better if Trump was president. "Trump might change the attitude of Americans towards Russia" echoed another Russian.

Donald Trump is ...

We asked people to finish that sentence. People overwhelmingly said "businessman." "Rich man" and "entertainer" were used a lot, too.
Some people went further.
"Donald Trump is a great businessman, a great speaker -- a motivational speaker -- and a great reality TV star, but by no means a great politician," Jeremy Starr Lam in Hong Kong said. Several words people used are not fit for print.
And while his two supporters in Jerusalem both described Trump as "nice," others just don't know what to think. Some shrugged or winced. A London woman thought about it and simply said: "I'm at a loss for words."
“My personal opinion is that [Donald Trump] is not a good person to be the President of United States,” says this man in Tehran. “He has opinions that divide people. A president should be somebody to bring the people and all the nations together.”
"Donald Trump is good for the Jews. He is good for Israel. He is like Bibi (Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu) he is strong. If Trump becomes president it will be good for the American people. He is not like Obama who compromises to the Muslim people. Whatever they do to him he says 'fine.' Donald Trump is tough." - Asi Tsarfati, owner of sweets and halva shop in Jerusalem
"President Trump would be an interesting option. Many say Hillary Clinton is a sure thing. But someone besides Clinton could bring change. The U.S. economy, as well as China, is not great right now. Trump is a businessman, so he might be able to bring in different tricks with his business sense that politicians wouldn't do." - Tetsuya Sakai/Engineer, Yokohama #Japan #Trump #CNN
"Donald Trump is no Obama for us again I hope! I think Obama made mistakes, Trump is a fresh new one." Yehezkel Oscar, Jerusalem
"I hope Donald Trump wins. He would be strong for America and the world. Obama talks too much - too much diplomacy - and there's not been enough action. Trump would be strong against terrorism," says Behrooz, a shopkeeper from Shiraz, Iran who works at the Central Souq in Abu Dhabi. "Usually, politics in America doesn't change with presidents, no matter what party they're in. But Trump would be able to push things more." #CNN #trump
Donald Trump “is anti-Islam,” says this man in Tehran. “He is not a good man. … There are some that are creating problems all over the world. And it doesn’t matter if it’s ISIS, Islamists – they are radicals. And he is a radical just like them.”
"I don't like Donald Trump because he is against Muslims and spreads rumors about us," says embassy employee Norham Hassan in Cairo. "His election will make me think negatively about America because it is the most powerful country in the world and it needs to be balanced. It shouldn't be against a religion." #CNN #Trump
"Donald Trump would be very bad for America with those anti-Muslim comments he's made. How many Muslims are there in America? A lot, right? Everywhere else in the world, there is respect for different religions," says Rouf, a Kashmiri carpet dealer in Abu Dhabi's Central Souq. "And by the way, how can Trump have so much business here in the Gulf and expect to get away with saying those things?" he asks. #CNN #trump
"Hell no!" #joburg based copyright manager Shafieka Jardine responds when asked if #donaldtrump should be elected US president. "I don't think it would change my view of #america though. Same reason we don't want to be judged for our president Jacob Zuma." #CNN #cnnpolitics
American politics are not really reported on in Chinese state media. The government places severe restrictions on what can be reported and individual candidates are rarely mentioned. Hence your average person here having no idea who Donald Trump is. Mr. Zhang, a liaison officer in Beijing, said," I have no idea who Donald Trump is. But I hope the next president makes strides in U.S.- China relations, especially in regards to North Korea."

Should the U.S. hire Donald Trump for President? “Absolutely not, 100 percent,” says Simon Martin, who works in fashion in London. “He’s good as a businessman, he should stay as a businessman and leave world affairs to politicians and the right people.” Martin says electing Trump would damage his faith in humankind: “It’s good to be good at business, it’s good to be right, but it’s also good to be nice. What’s wrong with being nice?” #Trump #CNN #SuperTuesday
